A WATERCOLOUR PAINTING COURSE WITH ALAIN MARC IN THE FRENCH ALPS, JULY 2009

A WATERCOLOUR PAINTING COURSE WITH ALAIN MARC IN THE FRENCH ALPS, JULY 2009

... à l'intention de nos amis anglophones, ce petit résumé du dernier stage des "Hautes Vallées de l'Alpe" par Jane TOMLINSON participante au stage et artiste émérite :

I found this course on the internet and enrolled with hardly any idea of what to expect. After all, an art course with the wrong teacher, however talented an artist he may be, could well turn out to be extremely boring .

On the contrary, Alain is inspiring, witty and has the gift of all good teachers - the ability to explain and demonstrate his art succinctly, clearly and in a lively way, accessible to all .
His talent and enthusiasm jump off his brush at you .
After each demonstration, he set us to work, giving each of us individual, helpful advice on where we were going wrong, as well as plenty of praise fo our good points .

Add to this a nice group of people on the course, the magnificent mountain backdrops, a wide variety of subjects to paint - village scenes, waterfalls (sounds hard ... and it is!) and even the 'Tour de France' cycle race to name just a few, and there you have a recipe for anything but boredom .

Now I know why Alain Marc's courses are invariably fully booked from one year's end to the next, and why people keep coming back.
I, for one, will definitely be putting my name down on next year's waiting list. Can't wait to begin again !
